Video: Iconos de la moda. Reportera, Lara-Carolina Fernandez, de América TeVé entrevista experta de la moda, Jen Gonzalez. En Español.
Check out my Spanish TV debut! No, not in a novela. My acting chops remain questionable. I can cry on demand for food (What? I have low blood sugar!) and play with a British accent (Confession: I totally self-narrate in a cross between John Cleese and Masterpiece Theater. I wonder what that says about me...) but other than that, I'm pretty limited. Actually (ach-you-ah-lee), I got to play the only part I'm really good at: Stylist.

I was asked by America Teve correspondent, Lara-Carolina Fernandez, to comment on the style of three of the world's most iconic women: Michelle Obama, Jackie O. and Kate Middleton. Watch as I dish on the key elements needed to re-create their signature styles. For those of you that don't speak Spanish, I've listed outfit how-to's in bullet points below, but do please (pleez) watch the video to see how each look is put together.
Get the Look
Michelle Obama - The J. Crew Enthusiast
  • Cardigan
  • A-line knee-length skirt
  • Flats or kitten heels.
  • Perfectly flat-ironed coif, optional.
  • Focus: Relaxed sophistication. Think J. Crew--the current embodiment of American style--sans au courant fussy accessorizing.  Do a statement necklace or classic thin leather watch--never both and nothing more.
  • Wild card: Color! Any color is welcome, as our First Lady is not afraid to make a statement.
Jackie Kennedy Onassis (The Kennedy Years) - The Luxe Lady
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge - The Neo-Classical Minimalist
  • Neutral colored knee-length dress. The Duchess favors a long sleeve, but dress for your clime, naturally. And careful on the cleavage there!
  • Black or nude closed toe pumps.
  • Real jewels (but never showy). Beg grandma for some of her hey-day danglies.
  • Tights, optional.
  • Focus: The waist. Cinch an already waist-centric dress further with a thin belt that matches your shoes.
  • Wild card: Get thyself a crazy hat!
By the way, did you catch how I totally did the Jackie portion in oversized sunnies? My mini-role as eccentric fashion expert. And if you're wondering what I'm wearing--yes, that was a brief under the skirt. But that wasn't just any brief (or skirt or top, for that matter)--I was gloriously decked out in vintage Pucci courtesty of Back in Style vintage boutique. (Inside joke: the brief became affectionately known as the fabulous Pucci diaper.)
