COLOR BLOCKING YOUR SUIT

Blazer: Comptoir des Cotonniers (Sale Rack, 3444 Main Hwy Coconut Grove, FL). Shirt: Catherine Maladrino. Skirt: Saks Fifth Avenue (vintage). Belt: Vintage (thrifted!). Shoes: Bakers. Earrings: Lauren Ralph Lauren.

The suit brings to mind matronly frump the likes of Queen E. and Secretary Clinton (remarkable women, however not known for their discerning style). But who says dressing for work needs to be a bore-fest?

Tip 1: Liven things up by color-blocking your top and bottom in complementary hues.

Tip 2: Feel free to do bold colors, but anchor the outfit with a neutral blazer and shoe.

Did you notice my bit of baroque bling there in the belt? A fun little accessory, even if (especially if!) typically associated with evening-wear, can make any ho-hum day feel special.
