{10 under $100}

     If you're only able to pick up a few things to spruce up your wardrobe this season, this post is for you! I've compiled a list of fall's ten most versatile must-haves, so you'll stay on trend while getting the most bang for your buck. Best of all, nothing is over $100! Read on for styling tips on each pick.

1. The Peplum Jacket: We all bought into the peplum craze last season, and with good reason! The shapely silhouette is universally flattering and oh-so-easy to pull off. And while we were all happy to see it return for another season, do we really need another peplum top? Get the most mileage out of this trend with a jacket. Throw it on with jeans, a white button down and riding boots, and you've got Victorian elegance going for your casual look. Dare to wear it bare, styling it with only a statement necklace and a long skirt, and you've got a smoking evening look. Wear it to work with your favorite blouse underneath and a pencil skirt or chic cropped trousers.

2. The Doctor Bag: Mango has gone ahead and done us a huge favor: The hottest shape, in the color of the season, with the trending focus on bag-minimalism, for $90. This is the essential everyday bag in the new neutral.

3. The Pointy Toe Shoe: With voluminous proportions being all the rage, we need a shoe that will keep us far from frump. Enter the pointy toe shoe, a bastion of lady-like sophistication (the perfect antidote when the hourglass is out) and leg-enhancer after the hearts of short girls everywhere! My pick comes with a still-hot ankle strap and in one of the season's hottest hues.

4. The Graphic Print Sweater: Finally, a trend where comfort meets style! I can't wait for it to get chilly enough for these in Miami, as I'm longing for a day of throw-it-on-and-go (post cheeseburger-dinner sigh of relief!). This guy is seriously chic with only jeans and booties, even better with #3 & #8 above, and the peak of what's chic NOW if worn with #3 & #6.

5. The Shoulder Pad Dress: Intimidating as the return of shoulder pads may seem, embrace the look ladies, as they trick the eye in your favor! When your shoulders look broader your hips will look smaller, therefore making you seem leaner. Not to mention, the simplicity of this dress makes it easy to take from day to night: At work, layer with a black turtle neck underneath, and cinch at the waist with skinny belt. #3 is still your winning shoe, but an open toe bootie works, too. At night, wear with black tights, and your favorite strappy sandals (yes, you can wear tights and sandals) and statement necklace. At only $32, you can't afford not to try this trend.

6. The Printed Trouser: Trousers were seen all over the runways (even under dresses), but I admit that I was love-struck by Miu Miu's patterned frenzy. For those of you with tamer fashion sensibilities,  you don't have to do the matching blazer to get in on this trend. These trousers by Reiss are my pick for their slightly slouchy shape, tapered ankles, high waist, and comfy material. Did I mention that they're on sale, too? Wear with the graphic sweater as described above, or with t-shirt and peep toe booties.

7. The Baroque Scarf: The secret to rocking on-trend colors and patterns without a whole lot of spending (and using the clothes you already have)? Scarves. I'm telling you, the scarf is this season's essential styling piece...I feel a dedicated post coming.  Up the ante on any casual or office outfit with this scarf's Rococo flair.

8. The Leather Skirt: Sexy. Edgy. Wearable. Do I need to say more?

9. Velvet: Lustrous and sensuous, anything velvet will take your look from lax to luxe. The most versatile option are shorts, since you can wear them day or night. Day: Denim shirt, tights and oxfords. Night: Sheer blouse and metallic sandals. Romantic waves for the former and sultry smokey eye for the latter are a must.

10. The "Estate" Bauble: Opulence is en vogue. See Balmain & Dolce & Gabbana. Work a little over-the-top glam into an everyday look with a piece that looks straight out of Ms. Taylor's collection. This necklace's simple design makes it work with a variety of different looks, while its flaming color will make any outfit sizzle. Best part, it works perfectly with everything on this list.
